Carmel Brown, the current president of the INTO (Irish National Teachers’ Organisation), paid us a visit on Monday. Carmel toured all classes and gave freely of her time as she interacted with the children answering their many questions as well as allowing them to try on her chain of office. Having played football at county level and being the proud winner of two All Ireland medals she was very interested and impressed with our football teams, especially our boys team, who won the county Mini 7s earlier in the year. First class recited a poem, complete with actions, while the senior children played some tunes and sang songs to entertain our very prestigious guest.
Not only did Carmel spend time in the classrooms but she also engaged with the staff during lunchtime and gave us an insightful look into current issues in our education system and what’s being done to address them.
