1st and 2nd Class have had a very busy start to the year. We have enjoyed getting to know one another and getting used to the different routines in class. We enjoy challenges and we have had lots of fun in our learning. In science, we were exploring our five senses! We had to make a prediction for each sense and then we compared our prediction to the results. It was lots of fun!

During maths, we were very busy learning how to log into and use (1st Class) Mathletics. It is a great way to learn about the different areas of Maths.
We are a very creative class and we love art! We created some amazing self-portraits in the style of Vincent Van Gogh using oil pastels and a mirror. Who do you recognise?

Recently, we painted some amazing autumnal pieces of art!

We had so much fun at ‘Breakfast morning’, eating delicious breakfast treats, while singing and dancing with the whole school!

P.E.
We have been working really hard on our Gaelic football skills. Each Thursday we watch a short video clip of skills and drills to work on in conjunction with Connacht GAA. We then head out to the astro to give them a go! Our skills are improving all of the time!
We also do PE on a Tuesday. We work on lots of various skills in these classes, including balance, agility, mobility and basic running and jumping skills. Here we are trying out a bear crawl race!!

Gaeilge
We are really enjoying our new Gaeilge programme, Bua na Cainte. It’s really fun with lots of lovely stories and rhymes. We try to work on a few new phrases each week. Have a look at us asking questions such as “An bhfuil caitheamh aimsire agat?” and “Cén caitheamh aimsire atá agat?”.

Maths
It’s not all copy and book work in our class, sometimes we even get to play games! We love games such as “loop games”, “around the world” and “sink or swim” and enjoy the competition between 1st and 2nd class! Take a look at us trying to match some number and picture cards to practise our understanding of money.

Baking
We are so lucky in our school that sometimes we even get a chance to learn some cookery skills. Here we are making some really tasty rice krispie buns under the guidance of our fantastic SNA Helena.
